What is MedulAI?

MedulAI is the first Spanish artificial intelligence system for the digitisation and cytological analysis of bone marrow. It is trained on more than 6 million cells, backed by 18 scientific publications, and already in use across 14 hospitals in Spain.

Its purpose is to put artificial intelligence at the service of clinical judgement. MedulAI helps optimise diagnostic processes, reduce variability between observers, and enable more consistent access to haematological digitisation.

Why does MedulAI matter?

Fast, high-quality diagnosis should not depend on the size of your hospital. MedulAI brings reliable, sovereign and secure artificial intelligence to any centre, large or small, so that diagnostic quality reaches every patient equally.

The potential is significant. Artificial intelligence can reduce the time spent on sample analysis in haematology by up to 80%, freeing specialist time and strengthening patient care.

Who created MedulAI?

MedulAI was created and is owned by SpotLab, the company behind its technology. The Sociedad Española de Hematología y Hemoterapia (SEHH) and GSK partner to help introduce MedulAI into the Spanish National Health System (SNS). This collaboration forms part of GSK Gate2Health, GSK’s open innovation programme that supports digital transformation projects in healthcare.

What is MedulAI’s reach in Spain?

MedulAI is in use across 14 centres in seven autonomous communities. This participation highlights its national scope and the growing interest of the haematology community in adopting digital and artificial intelligence tools in clinical practice.
