SpotLab, in collaboration with a team of renowned researchers, has demonstrated the power of artificial intelligence and deep learning in the fight against Covid-19 and its respiratory conditions. UPM presented a technique that automatically identifies the different types of lung lesions caused by Covid-19 pneumonia in CT images. This advance could predict the need for mechanical ventilation, ICU admission, and mortality. The AI platform developed by SpotLab and collaborators outperforms conventional radiomic models and radiologists’ scoring in predicting these outcomes, enabling an objective and quantitative understanding of the disease and potential applications in clinical trials and treatment of persistent pulmonary Covid.
